Adjusting Settings on PC-PINE for use on Bigbro - GEST 31 October, 2002 ****** Intro - You can run PC-PINE in two distinct ways. 1. With a setup that is local to your PC. 2. With a setup that is available wherever you are. To do this, setup locally and follow the instructions at the end. ****** Local Setup 1. Copy the contents of \\Bigsis\Data\Applications\PC_PINE to a suitable location such as 2. Edit the setting file pine_rc to match your own account. The quick way to do this is to search for FIXME in it. Change, personal-name=Gil Toombes user-id=toombes inbox-path={128.253.36.10/user=toombes/ssl/novalidate-cert}INBOX folder-collections="Mail on BIGBRO" {128.253.36.10/user=toombes/ssl/novalidate-cert}Mail/[] to match your own account. 3. Copy the "PINE_LOCAL_SETTINGS" shortcut and edit the lines Target - \\BIGSIS\DATA\Applications\PC_Pine\PINE.EXE -p pine_rc Start in - \\BIGSIS\DATA\Applications\PC_Pine To point to the right places. 4. Fire up PC PINE. 5. There are lot of ways to grab your old PINE addressbook. Either copy the file straight across, or mail it to yourself. ****** Remote Setup 1. If you have PC PINE working as you'd like (mail and addresses) you can export the settings to BIGBRO so they'll be available wherever you are. Fire up PC PINE 2. Go to S-, Z-. Export everything. 3. Make a shortcut along the lines of the Remote_settings shortcut. Edit, target - PINE.EXE -p {128.253.36.10/user=sol/ssl/novalidate-cert}remote_pinerc Start in - N:\Applications\PC_Pine Now you can run PC-PINE from anywhere.
