BIGBRO MAIL via SSL IMAP with EUDORA

Intro - Do you want to read your mail using Eudora? This article describes how to connect to bigbro.biophys.cornell via secure IMAP.
Preliminaries –
You need.
1. A valid account_name and login password on bigbro.
2. To send mail you will need a matching “saslpasswd” on bigbro for the same account name. There are directions for how to set one.
Steps -
1. Install Eudora 5.1. Cornell University has a site license and you can obtain a copy via Bear Access or from the CIT website.
2. Move the following files into the directory containing Eudora.exe:
a. libeay32.dll
b. libssl32.dll
c. stunnel.exe
d. Eudora instructions.doc (these instructions)
e. Eudora.bat
These are available in this directory or via http://www.stunnel.org
3. Make a shortcut to Eudora.bat and put it onto the desktop. Right click on the Eudora.bat shortcut. Click on properties and then on Program tab. Check “close on exit”.
4. Configure your Eudora account. One way to do this is -
Open Eudora and click on Tools, Options

Real Name : Enter your real name
Return Address : account_name@bigbro.biophys.cornell.edu
Login Name : account_name
SMTP Server (Outgoing): 128.253.36.10
Checking Mail :
Mail Server : localhost
Login Name : account name
Secure Sockets when Receiving :
NEVER
Incoming Mail :
Server Configuration : IMAP
IMAP Mailbox Location Prefix : /home/toombes/Mail
Authentication Style : Cram-MD5
Sending Mail :
Return Address : account_name@bigbro.biophys.cornell.edu
Domain to add to unqualified addresses :
bigbro.biophys.cornell.edu
SMTP Server : 128.253.36.10
Allow Authentication : YES
Immediate send : YES
Secure Sockets when sending : NEVER
Click on the Eudora.bat shortcut.
Use Eudora as normal.
When you exit Eudora, hit <CTRL>-C to kill the dos window.
