This is the summit ridge of Eldorado Peak. Too bad you can't see what's behind
the photographer--that is an even more incredible view! (photo: Rafal Goebel)

This is me, ascending the "Railroad Grade" to the Easton Glacier on
Mount Baker, North Cascades, Washington. Phil Fortier took this picture
of me as we ascended into the fog. We didn't make the summit that day,
but were treated to a surreal trip wandering around crevasses in the fog.
It was beautiful!

An early morning photo of Mt. Stuart, taken from the slopes of Ingalls peak.
This climb was my first alpine lead of a rock climb, and Nathan, Chris and
I had a pretty good time. The previous afternoon, Nathan (left) and Chris Mathieson
relaxed at our remarkably dry bivy.

One can never have enough summit shots... This is me on top of
Cutthroat Peak, photo by Dave Burdick
This next picture I really love. It is of Sanford Winslow (below) and I
jugging up the fixed lines Dave Burdick set after aiding the main pitch of
the "Pioneer Route" on the Monkey Face, Smith Rocks, Oregon. We did not
summit, as we had to "rescue" Sanford after his ascenders got stuck. The
following picture is Dave Burdick doing the 140 foot free hanging rappel out
of the Monkey Face's cave. Quite a ride, and one heck of a great view!
(both photos Darren Reid, if I remember correctly)

This picture is of my good friend Ilona Barash. One day in late summer we decided to
climb Ruth Mountain, near Mt. Shuksan in the North Cascades, and then ski down. We had
a route description from her father, who had apparently done the climb some years ago.
We got lost (briefly) and after I lost a ski pole (which slid down a rocky slope a few
hundred feet), decided to bag it, ultimately hiking nearby Hannegan Peak. Actually, it
was a really good day. Behind Ilona is the north shoulder of Ruth (left side of picture)
and in the gap you can see Nooksack Tower, part of Mt. Shuksan and the Nooksack Cirque.
This is a truly beautiful place!

Here is a neat photo that I took of Erica Salnick (a UW undergrad in Oceanography), while
she, Mike Warner and I were finishing up a grand day of climbing at Little Si (I think it
was World Wall, if you're interested). Erica wanted to lead one last climb as dusk was
nearing, and I caught this photo of her. One of my favorites.
And since one can never have enough goals:
